War Thunder: Crew Skills and Visibility Settings

War Thunder fights start before the spawn. Crew skills and visibility settings decide if you see the tank that already sees you.

Crew skills are not cosmetics

Rangefinding, vitality, and reload matter more than a decal. A green crew in a good tank still loses to a trained crew in a worse hull.

Put your best crew on the vehicle you actually spawn first. War Thunder first deaths are expensive.

See them before they see you

Visibility and terrain settings help you spot bushes that hide hulls. If your game looks like a painting, you will miss a silhouette.

In Air RB, track targets with the keyboard, not only the mouse view. Losing a plane in a sun glare is a setting problem too.

After a client update, re-check

Gaijin patches reset the feel of markers and sound. Spend two minutes in test drive before you queue a lineup you care about.

If something feels off, it is often a slider, not a conspiracy. Fix the slider, then play.
